Kristen: Getting to Queenstown

We're on the road again! Mike and I are travelling with Jess (13), Andy (10) and Lachie (8) for a quick trip around the South of New Zealand (Aotearoa). We left Canberra at dawn with bleary eyes but lots of excitement.

The new car fitted us all comfortably and Jess created an excellent playlist for the trip. We aren't used to Sydney traffic so the relatively minor delays seemed to take forever.

We waited for over half an hour to make sure we would be front of the queue for check in and it paid off with seats up the front and a quick trip through security to get to the lounge.

We really enjoy Mike's lounge privileges. They make travelling so much more fun. Not to mention saving a fortune on buying food and drinks for the family!

The flight was smooth and uneventful, and we were all pretty excited to see the amazing South Island scenery as we flew over.

We picked up an upgraded rental car (Thank you, Avis after Mike reminded you of the upgrade offer) and drove to Kingston Holiday Park for our first night in New Zealand. The excitement and time change meant a late night for the kids, but eventually they went to sleep...
